cPanel/WHM “Your IP Has Changed” Message

While trying to login to your cPanel, WHM or Webmail/Email account you may have encountered an message saying that your IP address has changed.

When connecting to your cPanel, WHM or Webmail/Email account it creates a session which saves the IP address that you connected from, however if this changes mid-session it can trigger a server side security setting which tries validates the IP address by comparing the IP address saved in the session when you first connected to the new/changed IP address and if they don’t match the server will block the connection.


Common causes for IP address changing:

Common causes of your IP address changing include;

  1. Using a VPN
  2. Using mobile data/a mobile connection
  3. Poor/unstable network connection
  4. Old browser cookies/cache that is holding onto a previous session

Workarounds/Solutions:

If you’re currently experiencing issues you can try the following methods to connect;

  1. Disconnect from any VPN services you may be using
  2. Switch from a mobile network to a home/office network
  3. Clear browser cache/cookies or try using an alternative browser
