{"id":632,"date":"2026-03-18T08:19:22","date_gmt":"2026-03-18T08:19:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.freethought.uk\/help\/how-to-reissue-your-ssl-certificate\/"},"modified":"2026-03-18T09:45:59","modified_gmt":"2026-03-18T09:45:59","slug":"how-to-reissue-your-ssl-certificate","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.freethought.uk\/help\/how-to-reissue-your-ssl-certificate\/","title":{"rendered":"How to Reissue Your SSL Certificate"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Overview<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Due to industry changes, SSL certificates are now issued for <strong>199 days<\/strong> and may need to be reissued during their lifetime.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This guide shows you how to reissue your SSL certificate through your client area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step 1: Log in to your account<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Login to your Freethought customer account at <a href=\"https:\/\/portal.freethought.uk\">portal.freethought.uk<\/a> and navigate to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Services \u2192 My Services \u2192 Select your SSL certificate<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step 2: Locate the \u201cReissue Certificate\u201d option<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Within your SSL product page, click:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Reissue Certificate<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"914\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/kb.freethought.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2026\/03\/image-914x1024.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-633\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kb.freethought.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2026\/03\/image-914x1024.png 914w, https:\/\/kb.freethought.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2026\/03\/image-268x300.png 268w, https:\/\/kb.freethought.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2026\/03\/image-768x860.png 768w, https:\/\/kb.freethought.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2026\/03\/image-770x862.png 770w, https:\/\/kb.freethought.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2026\/03\/image.png 949w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 914px) 100vw, 914px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step 3: Confirm or generate your CSR<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>You will be prompted to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>use an existing CSR, or<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>generate a new one<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>In most cases, the existing CSR will already be pre-filled.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step 4: Complete domain validation (DCV)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Depending on your certificate type, you will need to complete validation using one of the following methods:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Email validation<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>DNS record validation<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>HTTP file upload<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Follow the on-screen instructions to complete this step.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step 5: Install your certificate<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Once issued, your new certificate will need to be installed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Depending on your hosting setup:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>this may happen automatically<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>or you may need to install it manually<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>If you&#8217;re unsure, our support team can assist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Important Notes<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Reissuing your certificate does <strong>not extend your purchase period<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>It simply ensures your SSL remains valid within the new 199-day structure<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You can reissue your certificate at any time before it expires<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Need help?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>If you\u2019re unsure at any stage, just contact support and we\u2019ll guide you through it.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Overview Due to industry changes, SSL certificates are now issued for 199 days and may need to be reissued during their lifetime.
