You can use the asterisk \/ *<\/code> symbol to create wildcard redirects in ULTRA Cloud, or use the Preferred domain<\/strong> feature.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What is a wildcard redirect? <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

A wildcard redirect preserves the page that was requested on the domain that the visitor is being redirected away from. For example, someone visiting domain.com\/about<\/code> would be automatically redirected to destination.com\/about<\/code><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Normally you would use a wildcard redirect when you’ve rebranded and you want to redirect all traffic\/visitors to your new website\/domain. You can also use wildcards to handle cases where content has moved. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

For example, if you rebranded your company’s blog<\/em> to be journal<\/em> instead, you could redirect the existing blog pages with a pattern such as domain.com\/blog\/*<\/code> to domain.com\/journal\/*<\/code><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Another use case is when you need to redirect all visitors to a specific page. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Creating a wildcard redirect<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

  1. Login to ULTRA Cloud<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. Go to Sites <\/strong>and then Settings <\/strong>besides the site that needs a wildcard redirect<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. Select the Domains & Redirects<\/strong> tab<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  4. Under the Redirect Manager<\/strong>, set the following:\n

    • Select the From<\/em> domain (or leave as any domain<\/em> to redirect all variations and aliases)<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • In From’s<\/em> second field enter your pattern with the asterisk (e.g. *<\/code> or \/blog\/*<\/code>)<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Enter the destination address, optionally with the asterisk in the To <\/em>field<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Click Add Redirect<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

      What is a preferred domain?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

      ULTRA Cloud can also ensure your website is always using a specific domain by setting the Preferred domain<\/strong> under Domains & Redirects<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Preferred domains behave like wildcard redirects are useful for automatically redirecting alias domains to your website’s main domain. Likewise, if you prefer the www<\/code> version of your domain (or the non-www version), you can use the preferred domain feature to enforce this variation of your address. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
